Meet the team

Adolescent Dogs is a family run business that was founded in 2006 and is run by husband and wife team Jenny and Mike Newland, two Internationally renowned trainers offering world class training services, along with their team of instructors.

Between them, they've helped to train over 15,000 dogs and their owners worldwide.

 

They also support the training of Owner Trained Assistance Dogs, whose owners have failed to find support from charities. The team donate 100% of their Online Academy membership fee's towards providing discounted & gifted residential training stays for Assistance Dogs, so that together, we can change lives and give people with disabilities the freedom and independence they deserve

All of the training is based on modern, positive, reward based methods, with emphasis on building a good relationship with your dog.

The team have over 60 years experience between them, sharing years of knowledge and expertise to get the very best results from every single dog who stays with us for training.  

 

Our trainers are fully insured and home checked quarterly for your peace of mind.  Our trainers are expected to continue their professional development by attending courses/seminars or online webinars/courses each year.

Online Academy

Jenny founded Adolescent Dogs in 2006 and is the driving force of the company. To date, she has helped to train over 10,000 dogs and their owners. Jenny offers positive training in a busy family home around children, cats, dogs & goats . She has 2 acres of land at her home for training, as well as hundreds of acres of land backing off her property for walks.

Jenny is a VSA Certified Dog Trainer, a member of the Pet Professional Guild for force free dog trainers, a member of the Guild of Dog Trainers, a Professional Member of the Pet Professional Network, a member of the Professional Association of  Applied Canine Trainers and holds an Advanced Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour & Training.

Mike Newland, PPG, PPN, MGODT

One to One & wotkshops

Mike runs Adolescent Dogs alongside Jenny and runs the monthly workshops and instructor training.  Mike offers a limited number of spaces for one to one lessons here in Ewhurst - a unique opportunity to train your dog alongside one of the company Directors.  

Mike has been training for over 10 years and is a member of the Pet Professional Guild for force free dog trainers, a member of the Guild of Dog Trainers and a Professional Member of the Pet Professional Network (PPN). He is also Head Instructor for UK Sniffer Dogs, and teaches the Instructor Workshops, teaching other trainers how to teach scentwork classes

Libby Trigg

Advanced Senior Instructor, Guildford, Surrey

One to One

Libby has trained alongside Jenny and Mike for the past 10 years and is a valued member of the team.  She specialises in training small to medium sized dogs via one to one lessons in Guildford, and has experience training some of our most challenging dogs. 

 

 Libby is an experienced trainer who gets excellent results with puppies, adult dogs, rescue dogs, assistance dogs, nervous dogs and dogs with dog to dog aggression.

Verity Escott

Verity Escott, MGODT, PPN, PPG

Advanced Senior Instructor, Worthing, West Sussex

Board & Train & One to One

Verity is one of our Advanced Senior Instructors and is a valued member of the team. Verity has a wealth of experience working with a variety of breeds and gets excellent results. She provides realistic training in a quiet family orientated home environment, with one child of her own (6 yrs) and 2 dogs (Cockapoo and Pug).  She has access to local countryside walks and the beach

 

Verity gets excellent results with puppy's, adult dogs, rescue dogs, nervous dogs , assistance dogs and dogs with aggression to people and dogs. She also has experience working with dogs who lack motivation or who are difficult to train

Naomi White

Naomi White, BSc (Hons), PPN, PPG

Advanced Senior Instructor, Guildford, Surrey

Board & Train

Naomi has been part of the team since 2016 and has worked her way up to Advanced Senior Trainer.

She has a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and she is passionate about continuing her education and keeping up-to-date with the latest training and behaviour research, enabling her to develop her skills and methods to find the best approaches for different dogs and their owners.

 

She has a particular interest in behaviour cases, and her calm, patient nature makes her an ideal choice for working with more challenging problems, including reactivity towards dogs or people, resource guarding, and confidence building for dogs with fears and phobias.

 

She is also a 5* licenced boarder with Guildford Borough Council, achieving the highest level of standards.

Sarah Coombe

Sarah Coombe, MGODT

Advanced Senior Instructor, Guildford, Surrey

One to One

Sarah has worked alongside Adolescent Dogs for over 7 years and has access to over 100 acres of private woodland.  She offers a rare opportunity for friendly dog socialisation via her dog walking company and has experience training a variety of breeds.  Sarah specialises in working with aggressive dogs and behavioural issues, but also enjoys working with puppies, adult dogs, rescue dogs, nervous dogs and dogs with high prey drive

Sarah has 5 dogs of her own, including English Bull Terriers, and an elderly Rhodesian Ridgeback. She also helps with re-training dogs on death row.

Katie Brown

Katie Brown,PPN, PPG

Advanced Senior Instructor, Guildford, Surrey

Board & Train and One to One

Katie  has been part of the team for over 6 years and is one of our Advanced Senior Instructors.  She specialises in working with small to medium breeds of dog (under 20kg) and gets lots of 5 star reviews. She has a Diploma in Animal Psychology and an Extended Diploma in Animal Management . She is proud to be a Professional Member of the Pet Professional Network and the Pet Professional Guild for Force Free Dog Trainers

 

Katie offers a quiet family environment with 2 dogs of her own, an older Labrador and a Pug. She also has regular access to the Directors two children and cats.

 

Katie has experience working with puppies, adult dogs, rescue dogs, nervous dogs, assistance dogs and dogs with aggression towards dogs and people

Lyn Newland, GODT

Advanced Senior Instructor, Worthing, West Sussex

Pet Sitting

Lyn has been part of our team for 9 years and is a valued trainer.  Together with her partner Paul, they offer Pet Sitting to our clients all across the UK and Europe. This involves them coming to stay in your home when you're away and taking care of all of your pets

Lyn is DBS checked for your peace of mind, fully insured and is an Approved Instructor for the Guild of Dog Trainers.

Bekki Averill Tomkins

Bekki Averill-Tomkins, BSc (Hons)

Advanced Senior Instructor, Evesham, Worcestershire 

Board & Train

Bekki has been training dogs for over 6 years and is one of our Advanced Senior Trainers.  She has experience working with assistance dogs, training dogs for diabetic alert and therapy dogs for anxiety and autism.   She has a Degree in Animal Behaviour & Wildlife Conservation and is a Dog Training College Approved Instructor.

 

Bekki offers training in a quiet female only family home, with her toddler, her Cocker Spaniel and a cat of her own. She has access to a farm with horses and cows, as well as nieces and nephews for additional training.

 

Bekki has experience working with puppies, adult dogs, rescue dogs, nervous dogs, dogs with behavioural issues and dogs with aggression towards dogs and people.

Petra Maggiore

Advanced Senior Trainer - Crawley, West Sussex

Board & Train

Petra has been a valued member of our team since 2012 and is one of our Advanced Senior Trainers.  She currently specialises in working with small to medium breeds and puppies, but also has experience working through behavioural issues such as reactivity, car chasing and resource guarding, as well as working with our assistance dog teams.

 

Petra is a UK Sniffer Dogs Silver level Instructor, which means she can incorporate scentwork into any training programme, this is ideal for building confidence in puppies, reducing reactivity in adult dogs, or for alert work with assistance dogs

Petra offers training in a quiet, female only household with 3 dogs of her own (2 Boxers and 1 Cocker Spaniel)

Petra has easy access to woodland walks, the city centre and the beach.

Natalie Meier

Advanced Senior Trainer - Worcester

On maternity leave

Natalie has been a valued member of the team for over 9 years, and specialises in working with small dogs and young puppies.  She owns 1 dog of her own, and welcomes dogs into her busy family home with her partner and 3 children. Natalie is the perfect choice for those who are raising their dog with children, and who want early socialisation opportunities.

Kassie Cierniak

Senior Trainer - Basingstoke, Hampshire

Board & Train

Kassie has been training with our team since 2019 and is a valued member of the team. She has worked with a wide variety of dogs with varied training needs, from early puppy socialisation, to re-training adult dogs and working through reactivity, resource guarding, livestock chasing and more. She has also worked with many of the assistance dog teams for training dogs for autism, PTSD, medical alert and physical disabilities.  

Kassie lives in a busy town which is great for replicating environments such as London or dogs needing public access training. Equally, she is also close to local woodland walks, with access to livesotkc such as horses and sheep.

Kassie lives with her partner and fellow trainer Martin and their 3 well trained dogs (Golden Retriever, Rough Collie and Dachshund) as well as their cat. Making them a popular choice for those wanting the expertise of 2 trainers instead of 1, as well as additional socialisation opportunities they can provide.

Martin Cooper

Advanced Junior Trainer - Basingstoke, Hampshire

Board & Train

Martin has been a member of the team since 2021 and has worked with a large variety of dogs and varied behavioural issues such as, but not limited to reactivity, traffic chasing and handling aggression.

 

Martin lives in a busy town great for replicating hard environments like London! However, Martin is also a stones throw away from rural areas with lots of livestock for owners struggling around horses and sheep!

 

Finally Martin has 3 dogs of his own all trained to a high standard with his partner and fellow trainer Kassie and these are great dogs for your dog to train around and learn calm behaviours! Martins lives in a child free home so work around children and visitors will be harder to achieve but is not impossible

Guy Olliver

Senior Trainer - Eastbourne, West Sussex

One to one

Guy recently joined our team as a Senior level trainer. He has been training professionally for 4 years, teaching agility classes, training IGP with his own dogs and competing in agility competitions all over the UK. 

He owns 4 dogs of his own, 2 Labradors, a Belgian Malinois and a Working Cocker Spaniel and lives in Eastbourne, giving him easy access to the busy town centre, beach, countryside and livestock. 

Guy loves working with high drive and challenging dogs.  In addition to this, he strongly believes in training using modern, reward based training methods.

Shamyla Gascoigne, BSc (hons)

Advanced Junior Trainer - East Grinstead, West Sussex

Board & Train

Shamyla has been training for over 3 years and is a valued member of the team. She has completed her BSc (Hons) in Canine Behaviour Management, is a member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC), and is a UK Sniffer Dogs Bronze Level Instructor.

Shamyla has experience working with a variety of breeds and owns 5 dogs of her own whom she competes with in Agility, Scentwork and Competition Obedience (Havanese, 2 Collies and 2 Cocker Spaniels). 

Shamyla is able to offer training in a busy family home, with 4 children (4, 6, 8 and 10) with easy access to countryside walks and the town centre.

Advanced Junior - Chertsey, Surrey

Board & Train

Jen is one of our Advanced Junior Trainers and has been a valued member of the team since 2022 and regularly trains alongside our Senior team. She is a member of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG), as she believes in training using force free training methods and has a BSc (Hons) in Animal Science and has worked as a Veterinary Auxillary.

Jen offers training in her quiet home in Chertsey, with close access to woodland walks and the town centre.

Alice Todd, PPG

Junior Trainer - Horley, Surrey

Alice has recently joined our team as a Junior Trainer and is a valued member of our team.  She has experience working with a variety of dogs through Dog Walking, Grooming, Boarding and Training, as well training her own dogs in agility. She is also a member of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG).

Alice lives with 3 dogs in her family home, including a German Shepherd, a Collie mix and a French Bulldog, as well as 2 cats.
