Residential Dog Training

Struggling with pulling on the lead, poor recall, barking, or a dog that becomes overwhelmed around distractions?

Our residential training programmes take the pressure off by allowing your dog to live and train with one of our experienced trainers, receiving daily guidance in real-world environments.

During their stay, your dog will work on essential skills such as loose lead walking, reliable recall, calm behaviour around people and dogs, and the ability to settle confidently at home or in public places.

When your dog returns home, we guide you through everything they’ve learned and provide a clear, easy-to-follow training plan so you can maintain their progress with confidence.

With personalised training, home-based care, and ongoing support, Adolescent Dogs helps you build a calm, well-mannered companion you can enjoy taking anywhere.

Is Life With Your Dog More Stressful Than It Should Be?

Many owners come to us because they feel overwhelmed or unsure how to move forward with their dog’s behaviour.

Whether you’ve brought home a new puppy or are struggling with an older dog, you might recognise some of these challenges:

New Puppy Challenges

• Toilet training accidents around the house
• Sleepless nights or early morning wake ups
• Puppy biting, mouthing or grabbing clothes
• Jumping up and overexcitement
• Chewing furniture, shoes or household items
• A puppy that won’t settle or switch off

Everyday Behaviour Problems

• Pulling constantly on the lead
• Ignoring recall and running off
• Jumping up at visitors
• Stealing food or counter surfing
• Struggling to settle at home or in cafes

Stressful Walks

• Barking or lunging at dogs or people
• Chasing bikes, joggers or cars
• Becoming overwhelmed around distractions

You’re not alone — these are some of the most common challenges we help owners solve every week.

Our residential training programmes are designed to fast-track your dog’s progress through structured daily training in real-world environments.

Most dogs begin to show significant improvement in as little as 2–3 weeks of structured residential training.

Home based training - not kennels

One of the things that makes our residential training programmes unique is that your dog lives with their trainer in a real home environment.

Your dog becomes part of the trainer’s household and receives daily training integrated into everyday life.

This means your dog learns how to behave not only during structured training sessions, but also during normal home routines such as relaxing in the house, greeting visitors, and going for walks.

Because we do not use kennel facilities, your dog receives far more individual attention and a completely personalised training programme.

All training takes place both at home and out in the real world, helping your dog learn the skills they need to succeed in the environments that matter most to you.

What your dog's stay looks like

When your dog joins us for residential training, they become part of the trainer’s household and experience a structured daily routine designed to build skills, confidence, and calm behaviour.

A typical day may include:

🐾 Structured training sessions
Practising obedience, recall, lead walking and impulse control.

🐾 Real-world training outings
Trips to parks, villages, cafes and other environments where your dog learns to focus around distractions.

🐾 Socialisation opportunities
Learning to behave calmly around people and other dogs.

🐾 Play, enrichment and exercise
Balanced with downtime to ensure your dog remains relaxed and happy.

🐾 Home life training
Practising calm behaviour indoors, settling in the house, and manners around everyday situations.

Because your dog lives with their trainer, learning happens naturally throughout the day rather than only during short training sessions.

This immersive environment allows many dogs to make significant progress in just a few weeks.

Residential Dog Training
Deciding who to trust with your dog

Choosing someone to care for and train your dog is an important decision, and we understand that owners want to feel completely confident before booking.

As trainers and dog owners ourselves, we know that your dog is part of your family. That’s why we focus on creating a safe, caring environment where your dog can learn while being well looked after.

Throughout your dog’s stay you’ll receive regular photo and video updates, along with direct contact with your trainer, so you can follow their progress and have peace of mind knowing they are happy, safe, and learning every day.

Many owners tell us that these updates quickly reassure them that their dog has settled in and is enjoying the experience.

Residential training is ideal for owners who want the benefit of expert guidance from start to finish, ensuring training is done correctly and consistently.

You should never feel guilty about seeking help for your dog. Choosing professional training is a responsible decision, and both you and your dog will benefit from the skills, confidence, and structure it provides.

The programmes we offer

Puppy Training

Our fully immersive residential puppy programme is designed to give your puppy the very best start in life.

We'll teach them essential skills and good manners, at an age when they are most receptive to learning (from 8 weeks old) as well as ensure their early socialisation needs are met (meeting dogs, people, animals, traffic, cafes etc) so that they are better equipped for dealing with new situations in adulthood.

Our puppy training programme is tailored to meet the needs of each individual dog, as no two puppies are ever the same! Remember, puppies only grow into their bad habits, not out of them.

The ideal age to start training is before 6 months!  Before this age we can teach all of the essential obedience skills, grow your pups social skills and put them on the right path to grow into a well mannered adult dog

Reactive Dog Training

Adult Dog Training

Whether you have an annoying adolescent dog, or an adult dog with bad habits, we can customise a training programme to suit your needs

It's never too late to train your dog, but getting on top of problem behaviours as promptly as possible will ensure unwanted behaviours don't become lifelong habits.

Our trainers can quickly help to get on top of lead pulling, recall, jumping, biting, barking, settling, lunging at cars/joggers, training around cats/livestock, behaviour around children, plus basic to advanced training and distraction proofing in many different busy environments

We also work with owner trained assistance dogs, guiding your dog through their obedience training, teaching tasks and public access training. We can even work with dogs alongside wheelchairs and adapt the training to your specific needs

Reactive dog residential

Reactive Dog

Walking a reactive dog can be a highly stressful experience. Whether it’s barking, lunging on the lead, or growling at other dogs, these challenging behaviours can make walks difficult and often lead owners to avoid them altogether.

Our residential stays provide a positive, structured environment where your dog can learn and grow. We’ll work together to build clear communication and cues while helping your dog develop better self-control.

We focus on improving impulse control and problem-solving skills, while also positively changing your dog’s emotional response to triggers.

Our ultimate goal is to create lasting behaviour change by fostering increased focus, engagement, and trust between you and your dog.

Why Residential Training Is Worth the Investment

We understand that residential training is a significant investment, and many owners naturally compare different options before deciding.

Here are a few reasons why our programmes are different.

Home-Based Training — Not Kennels

Your dog lives inside the trainer’s home as part of the family rather than staying in a kennel facility. This allows training to happen naturally throughout the day in real-life situations.

Individual Training, Not Group Kennels

Our trainers work with only 1–3 dogs at a time, allowing them to provide focused, personalised training tailored to your dog’s specific needs.

Positive, Force-Free Methods

We use reward-based training methods that build trust, confidence and long-term behavioural change. We never use shock collars, prong collars or punishment-based tools.

Comprehensive Owner Support

Training doesn’t stop when your dog goes home. We include owner training, follow-up support, and lifetime access to our Online Academy so you can continue building on your dog’s progress.

Real Training, Real Environments

Your dog learns in the environments where behaviour actually matters — on walks, around people and dogs, in cafes, parks and everyday situations.

Our goal isn’t just short-term results, but lasting behaviour change that improves life for both you and your dog.
