Verity is one of our Advanced Senior Trainers and has been a valued member of the team for over 9 years.   As well as earning her space as an Advanced Senior Trainer, she is also a Mentor Trainer for our Trainee Instructors, a member of the Guild of Dog Trainers (GODT) a Professional Member of the Pet Professional Network (PPN), a member of the Pet Professional Guild for Force Free Dog Trainers (PPG) and a Dog Training College Approved Instructor

 

She has a vast amount of experience working with a variety of breeds and ages of dog through our residential training programmes and specialises in small to medium sized dogs.  She gets excellent results with all of the dogs that she has to stay with her for training.  

 

Verity is passionate about reward-based training and all of her training is done using treats, toys, games and lots of praise to ensure your dog enjoys their stay and learns effectively whilst maintaining high welfare standards.

 

Verity only takes in 2 to 3 dogs for training at any one time, so is able to offer a more personal and exclusive training service. You'll receive plenty of photos and videos throughout your dog's training stay, putting your mind at ease that they're receiving the very best care and attention.  

 

She offers training in her quiet, family home with her 8 year old child and 2 dogs (a Pug and a Cockapoo). This means that she is able to provide vital manners and training for dogs who need work around children. She also benefits from access to Jenny & Mike's Goats for livestock training and her children for further training around kids.

 

Verity is an excellent match for the most challenging dogs we get in for training, but is equally skilled at early puppy socialisation and training.  She is also able to offer training for assistance dogs, teaching complex tasks and helping owners work towards achieving their access tests.  She enjoys a challenge and offers a variety of woodland and beach locations for training dogs.  


Verity regularly attends seminars and courses with some of the most world renowned trainers and behaviourists to help with her continued professional development.

Albie & Olive the Cavapoochons - 6 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Albie and Olive have returned home after a successful 6 week residential training stay with us. Both Olive and Albie had become extremely reactive after a residential stay with another company. Although they were displaying signs of nervousness prior to that stay, their behaviour became much worse due to the training methods that were used to kirb their barking!! This resulted in them both feeding off of each others emotions and making a lot of noise during times of uncertainty. They both barked at people, men inparticular, they barked at dogs non stop, they barked at visitors to the house and any unfamiliar sounds around them. They both needed some confidence building and to regain trust in their handler. We’ve now come to the end of their stay and both dogs have done incredibly well. They will need ongoing support and guidance but boy they’ve started to shine. Because of the improvements they’ve made they can now enjoy life to the fullest. They can think much more clearly rather than resorting to what has previously worked for them. Overall they are much more responsive and confident with the life that’s going on around them. Georgie the Cocker Spaniel - 2 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Georgie the 9 month old cocker spaniel has completed his 2 week residential stay with us. Georgie is a gorgeous boy but has hit adolescence and has been proving to be quite challenging for his owners. Firstly his jumping and mouthing was becoming a real nuisance. You couldn’t sit down to relax without him jumping all over you and mouthing at skin or clothing. He also tormented the resident cat which wasn’t helping with their relationship. So we’ve taught Georgie a send to bed cue and helped him to switch off a bit more easily. His jumping is much better but will need consistency when he returns home. His owner wasn’t able to walk Georgie due to a back injury and Georgie’s strong pulling on lead. We’ve taken it back to basics and put some good foundations in place to ensure his owner can walk him and find him much more manageable overall. Dolly Parton the Miniature Schnauzer Puppy - Full Assistance Dog Programme Puppy Stay

Dolly Parton has returned home after completing her 2 week assistance dog residential training with us here at Adolescent dogs. Dolly is a young little Schnauzer with bags of character. She’s clever, cute and 100mph. 😂 As Dolly will have a special role to play assisting her youngest member of the family, she will be joining us for a few residential stays as she grows to work towards her assistance dog awards. This first stay was to put some good foundations in place and teach Dolly all those essential cues including recall. Dolly does get super pumped around other dogs and will charge and bark. We’ve helped to reduce this behaviour and teach Dolly that greetings can happen when in a calmer state of mind. Maple the Cocker Spaniel Puppy - 2 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Beautiful Maple has returned home after completing a 2 week residential training stay with us. 💖 Maple is an adorable cocker spaniel puppy and is also super smart. She loves to train and learn which has made working with her a pure joy. 🐾 Maple’s owner sent her to us because he wanted the very best start for Maples training journey. 🐶 During her stay Maple has learnt our entire syllabus including down, wait, leave, drop, middle and come. She has the loose lead walking foundations in place and has been fantastic with her toileting routine. She can sleep in a crate through the night and for short rest sessions throughout the day without any issues. Maple has bags of potential to continue learning and developing into a super dog! Skye the Labrador - 4 Weeks Silver Award Assistance Dog Residential

Skye the Labrador has returned home after completing a 4 week assistance dog residential stay. Skye came to us as a tiny puppy just before Christmas last year and walked away with her assistant dog bronze award 🥉 This time was another special stay for Skye as her owners wanted her to complete her Silver award. 🥈 Skye will be an assistance dog for one of the younger members of her family but now she’s hit adolescence, she was really struggling to think clearly and focus. She was pulling so hard on the lead and it was really stressful. There was no way anyone could walk her without having their arms ripped out of their sockets 🤦‍♀️ Her recall had also regressed a lot so this needed to be put back on track. During Skye’s stay we have been working hard to regain her focus, promote some calm and allow Skye to think more clearly to set up up for better choices 💡 She’s full of beans and non stop energy but she’s learnt to slow down on the lead, her recall is much better as well as her overall focus and ability to settle in the home. Lenny the Collie x Poodle Puppy - 2 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Beautiful little Lenny returns home today after successfully completing a 2.5 week residential training stay with us. Lenny is only 4 months old and complete love bug 🐛 His family wanted the best start for him so we stepped in to help him on his training journey Lenny did have a habit of zooming all over the furniture of an evening and struggled to settle so we’ve taught Lenny a reliable send to bed cue and built lots of value in his bed. He now LOVES his bed. We’ve also introduced the foundations to some better loose lead walking skills to enable his owners to fast track that all so difficult task with puppies. Lennys recall has hugely improved and he is now staying much closer on walks and listening to his handler very well. His jumping up has reduced significantly and he’s learnt that alternative behaviours get him the yummy treats. Cookie the 9 year old Jug - 4 Weeks Residential Dog Training

This precious little boy returned home today after a very successful 4 week residential stay. Little Cookie is an older gentleman and up until recently he only knew of his farm life with acres of land to free roam. A change in circumstances meant Cookie and his brother left the farm and moved to a house where he didn’t have all this open space and was needing to be walked in new areas. After a few months this lead to Cookie feeling rather overwhelmed and alert to his new surroundings. This became the cause of a worrying new behaviour of barking and charging towards unfamiliar dogs and sadly ended up with him biting. His owner made the responsible decision to seek help to ensure she knows how to support Cookie and learn to enjoy walking him again. Cookie is now far more enjoyable to walk, he’s less alert, becoming more comfortable around unfamiliar dogs and overall much more manageable to control. He’s even made a few doggy friends during his time with us 💙 We’ll miss this gorgeous boy. Good luck Cookie 💪 you’ve got this!!
