Jenny founded Adolescent Dogs in 2006 and is one of the Company Directors. To date, she has helped to train over 15,000 dogs and their owners.  

 

Jenny has been assessed by the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and passed her 2nd Grade.  She is a VSA Certified Dog Trainer, an approved member of the Guild of Dog Trainers (GODT) as a Master Trainer, a member of the COAPE Association of Applied Pet Behaviourists & Trainers, a Certified Trick Dog Instructor (CDTI), a Canine Conditioning Fitness Coach and holds membership with the Pet Professional Guild for Force Free Dog Trainers

 

Jenny lives with her husband Mike, 9 dogs, 3 cats, 9 goats, 3 giant tortoises & 2 children (11yr and 8 yr) in rural Ewhurst with over an acre of land to train on, backing onto Polo fields - which offer hundreds more acres. Making Jenny & Mike an excellent choice for puppies needing early socialisation and exposure.

 

Jenny & her husband Mike offer limited opportunities for dogs to learn with them on the Intensive Courses,  the One to One Programmes or their Online Academy. 100% of their Online Academy memberships goes directly towards offering discounted residential stays for Assistance Dogs as well as raising & training puppies donated to their assistance dog programme.  They are passionate about using reward-based training. 

 

Jenny uses a game based approach to training, making training fun and learning fast!  All training is done using treats, toys, games, life rewards and lots of praise to ensure your dog enjoys their stay and learns effectively whilst maintaining high welfare standards. They only take in 1 dog each at a time for training, so are able to offer a more personal and exclusive training service.

Their own dogs include a Pug (Spyder Pug), 2 Chinese Crested (Pavlov and Hero) a Mini Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless called Bullseye), 3 Standard Xoloitzcuintli called Hiccup, Zombi & Dante, a Border Collie called Houdini. Plus Mike's Working Cocker Spaniel (Echo). They also occasionally foster dogs for various rescues, helping to re-train and rehabilitate rescue dogs

Jenny is currently working Hiccup and Zombi through their UK Sniffer Dogs Titles and Trick Dog Titles, with Hiccup achieving his UK Sniffer Dogs Silver Title, and Champion Trick Title, and Zombi completing her UK Sniffer Dogs Bronze Title. She is also working on Competitive Obedience with Hiccup

Cleo the Golden Retriever Puppy - 2.5 Weeks Assistance Dog Residential Training

Cleo the 6 month old Golden Retriever returns home tomorrow after completing her 2.5 week assistance dog residential stay Cleo’s main area of focus has been building her confidence and food motivation. Cleo is sensitive to sounds and can find the world a scary and overwhelming place. This has made it difficult for her owner to progress her training During her 2 weeks with us, we’ve worked on building her food motivation alongside growing her self confidence. Utilising puppy parkour games and putting sniffing on cue, we’ve been able to grow her confidence in new places and slowly built her exposure to busier environments. Her confidence around other dogs has also grown and she’s less worried about approaching them on walks. We’ve also worked separately on building all of her obedience cues, so she’s able to recall away from dogs, walk to heel, respond to cues from a distance and the emergency stop. In addition to this, we’ve worked on the teaching her to greet people more calmly , helping to reduce her jumping up. The combination of confidence building and growing her understanding of cues will set her up for future success with working towards her assistance dog awards For now, Cleo needs to have fun being a puppy, exploring the world at her own pace and growing a trusting relationship with her owner Good luck Cleo

Poppy the Labrador puppy has completed her 2 week residential training stay Her family wanted her to have the best training and care whilst they enjoyed a family holiday During her 2 week stay, we’ve taught Poppy all of the basic obedience cues such as sit, down, middle, leave, wait and send to bed. She’s also learnt how to walk nicely on the lead and come when called away from other dogs Poppy is a clever pup and has enjoyed learning new things. Jasper the Labrador puppy - 2 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Jasper the Labrador has completed his 2 week residential training stay with us Jasper is a super smart puppy and has loved every minute of his training journey. Over the last 2 weeks, we’ve taught him how to walk nicely on the lead in lots of different environments and around distractions. He’s excelled at generalising his training in busy environments. We’ve also taught him all of the basic obedience cues such as down from a distance, middle, leave, send to bed, wait and introduced off lead control. When he arrived, he didn’t respond to his name. Now he has a reflex response to his name, even away from playing with other dogs. Huxley the Labrador - 3 Weeks Assistance Dog Residential - Gold Award

Huxley the Labrador has completed his 3 week assistance dog residential stay with us When Huxley arrived, his owner needed help with his pulling on the lead and excessive hormonal sniffing since he’d managed to pull her out of her wheelchair. She also wanted help with completing his silver assistance dog award and building reliability with some task training During the 3 week stay, we’ve taught Huxley to ‘go sniff’ on cue so that he can sniff and pee when cued rather than dragging his owner over to smells constantly. We’ve also taught him good lead manners so he doesn’t throw himself to the end of the lead around other dogs. Huxley arrived with a good understanding of the silver award, so we’ve spent time ensuring he can respond to all of his cues around distractions and in lots of different environments. We’ve also progressed him through his Gold award as he was struggling to focus around other dogs, children and when off the lead. In addition to this, we’ve taught him ‘food refusal’ and started his medical alert training to detect garlic in food due to his owners food allergy. We’ve also progressed his retrieve from only picking up toys to picking up and retrieving non toy objects. Winifred the Labrador Puppy - 3 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Winifred the Labrador puppy has completed her 3 week residential training stay with us As a growing puppy, her family wanted her to have the best start to her training and socialisation whilst they were away on holiday Winifred lacks confidence around other dogs, so we’ve spent time building her confidence around lots of different dogs and introducing her to older dogs who are great role models. During her 3 week stay, she has learnt how to walk nicely on the lead, to come when called and to respond to a variety of cues in busy environments, including the useful Middle cue so she can seek safety from her owners whenever she feels overwhelmed. The 3 week stay has given her a wonderful foundation so that she can grow with her training and navigate through adolescence with ease.
