Puppy Training

Our fully immersive residential puppy programme is designed to give your puppy the very best start in life.

We'll teach them essential skills and good manners, at an age when they are most receptive to learning (from 8 weeks old) as well as ensure their early socialisation needs are met (meeting dogs, people, animals, traffic, cafes etc) so that they are better equipped for dealing with new situations in adulthood.

Our puppy training programme is tailored to meet the needs of each individual dog, as no two puppies are ever the same! Remember, puppies only grow into their bad habits, not out of them.

The ideal age to start training is before 6 months!  Before this age we can teach all of the essential obedience skills, grow your pups social skills and put them on the right path to grow into a well mannered adult dog

Reactive Dog Training

Adult Dog Training

Whether you have an annoying adolescent dog, or an adult dog with bad habits, we can customise a training programme to suit your needs

It's never too late to train your dog, but getting on top of problem behaviours as promptly as possible will ensure unwanted behaviours don't become lifelong habits.

Our trainers can quickly help to get on top of lead pulling, recall, jumping, biting, barking, settling, lunging at cars/joggers, training around cats/livestock, behaviour around children, plus basic to advanced training and distraction proofing in many different busy environments

We also work with owner trained assistance dogs, guiding your dog through their obedience training, teaching tasks and public access training. We can even work with dogs alongside wheelchairs and adapt the training to your specific needs

Reactive dog residential

Reactive Dog

Walking a reactive dog can be an incredibly stressful experience. Whether it's barking, lunging on the lead, or growling at other dogs, these challenging behaviours can make walking a challenge and is something that many owners would prefer to avoid

Our residential stays create a positive learning experience for your dog. We will work together to establish clear communication and cues, as well as help your dog to grow their self-control.

We can improve impulse control and problem solving abilities while positively changing your dog's emotional response to triggers.

The ultimate goal of our training is to create long-term behaviour change through increased focus, engagement and trust between you and your dog

Luna the Labrador x Golden Retriever - 3 Weeks Assistance Dog Residential Stay

Luna the Labrador x Golden Retriever - 3 Weeks Assistance Dog Residential Stay

Luna the Golden Retriever x Labrador has completed her 3 week assistance dog residential training stay. Lunas owner has put in a good level of obedience however she was struggling with Lunas extreme over arousal. She would jump up and bite anything she can get hold off and has ripped skin and shredded many coats! Luna also loves everybody and wants to say hello which means she will lunge and pull towards people and dogs. This was extremely worrying for her owner as she had hopes that she would become an assistance dog for her. We have worked extremely hard on managing Lunas arousal levels in general and around distractions. Alongside this we have worked on her ignoring people and dogs and focusing on her handler and to default into a calmer position such as a sit or down when stationary. We have progressed all of Lunas general obedience and combining these Luna can now walk calmly on a relaxed lead in a variety of different environments past dogs and people. She can recall away from other dogs and also complete the emergency stop cue reliably. Luna is able to work through all her cues including sit, down and middle in busy locations. Through her hard work we have been able to pass the bronze award during her stay. Her owner is dedicated to continuing Lunas training and will be working closely with us to help now she is home. Well done little Luna! www.adolescentdogs.com 08002229007 Info@adolescentdogs.com
Maisie the Labrador x Cocker - 3 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Maisie the Labrador x Cocker - 3 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Maisie the 3 year old Labrador x Cocker Spaniel has completed her three week residential training holiday with us. Her family were having to deal with attention barking on walks and at home making entertaining guests very difficult. During her stay we helped Maisie to feel comfortable being independent by introducing a crate as her place to settle giving her owners an option when they are entertaining. We established the causes and made changes to her routine and set up to help her to self settle during the day when she would normally struggle and bark at her owners. We also taught her to settle on cue to help deal with visitors at the door and counter surf. In time this can be extended and used for longer periods and utilised in public. Maisie also liked to bark at outdoor sounds whilst in the house, by teaching her to disengage and combining this with her settle cue her owners have a tool to stop this unwanted behaviour and redirect her attention. During her stay we covered all of her basic obedience and strengthened these behaviours in public places with varying environmental distractions. Although Maisie had all the basics in place she very quickly became over aroused and would bark so the timing of her reward was key. Maisie’s owners are very committed to her training and we will be helping them to transfer these skills into their home environment. She is a lovely young dog that is now on the right path and we look forward to seeing this team succeed. www.adolescentdogs.com 08002229007 Info@adolescentdogs.com
