Adolescent Dogs provides dog training services including residential dog training, one-to-one training, workshops, online dog training and owner-trained Assistance Dog programmes.

If you apply to our Assistance Dog Programme, we may need to collect information about your disability or health condition and how it affects you.

  • information about the tasks you would like your assistance dog to perform; and

  • supporting medical or professional documentation supplied as part of your application.

Health and disability information is special category personal data and receives additional protection under UK data protection law.

We collect this information to assess your eligibility and suitability for the Assistance Dog Programme and to administer your participation in the programme.

We ask applicants only to provide health information that is relevant to their application and assistance dog training needs. You do not need to provide your complete medical history.

Where we rely upon explicit consent to process health and disability information, we will ask you to provide this separately when completing your application.

You may withdraw your consent to our processing of health information where our processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing which has already lawfully taken place. If the information is necessary to assess or maintain eligibility for a particular service, withdrawing consent may mean that we are unable to continue providing that part of the service.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We do not keep personal information for longer than we reasonably need it.

Different types of information may be retained for different periods depending on why it was collected and whether we need it for contractual, accounting, legal, regulatory or dispute-resolution purposes.

Assistance Dog Applications and Medical Evidence

​

Assistance Dog Programme applications, including health and disability information and supporting medical or professional documentation submitted as part of an application, are retained for up to 12 months from the date of application.

After this period, the application and supporting documentation will be securely deleted unless there is a specific reason why we need to retain the information for longer, for example because of:

  • an ongoing Subject Access Request or other data protection request;

  • a complaint or dispute;

  • an actual or anticipated legal claim;

  • a safeguarding or serious incident matter; or

  • another legal or regulatory requirement.

Membership, payment, training, assessment, award and Public Access Test records may be retained separately for longer where reasonably necessary for the administration of the programme, accounting, contractual, legal or regulatory purposes.

Other Training and Customer Records

​

Information relating to residential training, pet dog training, Online Academy memberships, lessons, workshops, bookings, payments and other customer services will be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for any applicable accounting, contractual or legal requirements.

Where information is no longer required, we will delete it, anonymise it or securely dispose of it.

Residential Training

​

When your dog attends residential training, we may share relevant information with the trainer responsible for your dog's stay.

This may include your contact details and information about your dog's behaviour, training, medical needs, feeding, medication, veterinary requirements or other information necessary to provide the service safely.

Trainers should only receive information reasonably necessary for the care and training of your dog.

Where necessary for your dog's welfare, we may also share relevant information with a veterinary professional.

 

Payments

Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers.

We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Payment providers process this information in accordance with their own privacy and security arrangements.

We may retain records of payments, transactions, refunds and purchases for accounting, taxation, contractual and business-record purposes.
