Beth Kent, ABTC, IMDTB, PACT
Junior Trainer Marlborough, Wiltshire

We are excited to welcome Beth Kent to the Adolescent Dogs team.
Beth joins us with 7 years of professional dog training experience, including 6 years running her own dog training business. During this time, she has worked with a huge variety of breeds, ages, backgrounds and behavioural needs, delivering one-to-one training, group classes and behavioural support, as well as working with assistance dogs.
As part of our standard onboarding process, all new trainers complete a practical assessment period, allowing us to determine the most appropriate trainer level within our team structure. During this time, trainers begin under a Junior Trainer placement while they demonstrate their skills and experience across a range of training scenarios.
Beth has a particularly strong interest in rescue dogs and assistance dog training and has built extensive experience in both areas. Alongside her hands-on work with dogs and owners, she founded the Barking Buds Trainer Mentor Programme for adults aged 18+ and the Youth Trainer Programme for young people aged 9+, helping the next generation develop their understanding of dog behaviour, welfare and positive training.
Beth lives in Marlborough, Wiltshire, with her partner Sam, their infant child Daisy-Lee and their 9-year-old Spaniel × Beagle, Luna. As a family, they enjoy getting outdoors for walks, socialising with friends and other families, and spending time together.
Training Environment
Based in Marlborough, Beth has access to an excellent variety of environments for residential dogs to experience as part of their training.
The local area combines countryside with small-town life, providing opportunities to gradually build dogs' skills across different levels of distraction.
Training opportunities include:
-
Forest and woodland walks
-
Open fields and countryside
-
Livestock
-
Small rivers and water environments
-
Traffic and roadside training
-
Small-town environments
-
Children and families
Beth lives close to Marlborough College, providing plenty of opportunities for dogs to experience people, children, activity and everyday life. Her home is also situated along a popular walking route used by local dog owners, creating further opportunities to work on calmness and neutrality around other dogs.
This variety allows dogs to practise their skills beyond the home and develop the confidence, focus and reliability needed to transfer their training into everyday life.

Training Philosophy
Beth uses positive, reward-based training, with a strong focus on building solid foundations before transferring those skills into increasingly challenging real-world environments.
She believes that good training should give dogs the skills to succeed not just during a training session, but as part of everyday family life. Dogs staying with Beth will be incorporated into her family's routine and treated as one of her own, joining her on walks, outings and everyday adventures while learning how to settle, engage and make good choices in different environments.
Her experience across pet dog training, behavioural work, rescue dogs and assistance dogs allows her to adapt training to the individual dog rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
We are delighted to welcome Beth to the Adolescent Dogs team and look forward to supporting her through her assessment period while she brings her considerable experience, enthusiasm and passion for positive dog training to our residential programme.
