“Professional, personal and thorough!” 5 star review written on: 11/03/2019
We sent our 3 month old puppy Stella to this trainer for 4 weeks while we were away over Christmas. As expected, when she left us she was walking all over the place on her lead, was not properly toilet trained, was a real hazard when let off her lead, was cheeky and adorable but not behaving in a way that was sustainable in a busy household with children.
Throughout her training the trainer was so supportive, responsive and caring. I was getting regular updates and photos, and towards the end of her stay she gave me a very candid progress report and suggested that she keep her for a few extra days, to be sure that Stella would come home trained to her full potential.
On the day of the handover my husband and I were blown away. Stella was a different puppy. Still as sweet and playful as ever but now she was reliable, predictable and obedient, and this made every moment with her more enjoyable. The trainer was so patient with us and took her time to explain everything we needed to know. After we came back home I was constantly texting her to ask her for follow-up advice, and she was always responsive and gave me invaluable advice and solutions.
Everyone at Adolescent dogs is so professional - from the communication before training starts, to the training manual for follow-up, the personal attention they pay to your puppy's needs, I was very impressed. They are also very clear however that a lot of the long term results come from the owner's follow-up to training. I found this to be very true.
There was a period when I struggled a bit not to let the bad habits come back, but I had a lot of guidance throughout and today I can say that I have a well behaved sweet puppy who is a delight. She usually is good at listening, remembers her commands, is (almost) perfectly toilet trained - and she is only 6 months!
I would highly recommend Adolescent Dogs and I am still in contact with them today for some follow-up training when I go away.
“Springer Spaniel Puppy Anxiety and Toileting Issues” Written on: 07/03/2018 by IgnacioCarver
"After having some "teething" problems with our English Springer Spaniel puppy We decided to place her with Adolescent Dogs for some residential training as despite our consistent efforts, our puppy was nervous about toileting outside and would toilet inside regularly especially when left alone, even if we were still in the house but in another room, You can imagine this presented a huge challenge especially with a very busy Springer puppy.
Adolescent dogs took our puppy for four weeks residential training and worked solidly with her not only on her anxiety and toileting issues but on all aspects of obedience and socialising her with people, other dogs and other animals and general confidence building. Our trainer updated us on her progress weekly and what I liked about this was that she was always honest so if a particular problem was presenting itself she kept us informed and would explain what she was doing to combat this. At the end of the four weeks we had a thorough handover where we were advised how to continue the training and we were also able to contact the trainer at any time for advice if we had any issues that we were struggling with. Our puppy has come so far. Her general obedience is great, she is demonstrating really lovely behaviours with other dogs and her toilet training is pretty much there. We now feel that we have the tools to manage her anxiety and continue her training. She is growing in confidence daily and our confidence in her is growing daily also. We honestly don't know what we would have done without their help! we have learned so much during this process and after a tough start, we are now looking forward to continuing our puppies training and seeing how she grows and develops. If you are struggling with your puppy or dog, I would highly recommend contacting Adolescent dogs, they will help you and teach you how to manage your dogs specific issues. Thank you to the trainer and Adolescent Dogs!"
“Adolescent Dogs Residential Training - Brilliant” Written on: 09/06/2017 by Srnic
"We are so proud of our Archie; the trainer has turned him into an absolute star - well done!
We only wish we had found Adolescent Dogs earlier, when Archie was a puppy.
Working with our trainer has been and continues to be a pleasure; we have been in regular contact during and after Archie’s four weeks of training.
We have been able to successfully introduce much of the behaviours established by our trainer, after returning home with Archie.
We still have lots to sort out but we think our level of success is remarkable!
In fact Archie’s enthusiasm for training has helped us massively and we are very much looking forward to building on our capability during next weeks second handover training session.
We have to say that “Adolescent dogs” has introduced a much needed "step change in dog training”.
This unique approach of expert trainers conducting intensive training directly with the dog and leaving the owners at home; will fast track the dog to an incredibly high behaviour standard in a very short time!
Yes leaving your dog for four weeks is incredibly tough on the owners, but in our case we would never have achieved such a high standard with Archie’s behaviour, with a more traditional weekly training session approach!
Also the excellent manual provides masses of essential information that helps the owners to prepare for the handover.
Adolescent dogs has real structure to its dog training model, this massively increases the potential for our dogs to achieve an enviable standard of behaviour.
If we were to wind back the clock to that point in time when we made our booking, we would select the same trainer again without a moments hesitation.
We highly recommend Adolescent Dogs to all dog owners!"
