The Improvers course requires completion of the beginners course or equivalent home training.
Your dog should understand basic commands such as sit, lie down, stay, leave and basic loose lead walking.
If you are unsure if your dog is at the right standard to join the improvers course, please contact Jenny on 07734 034 563.
The course is ideal for those who wish to learn more than the basics and progress to a higher standard with their dog. The course continues the training previously learnt at the beginners level, working against greater distractions (other dogs, people and toys etc, in both a static and lively environment).
The class size is limited to just 6 dogs and is run by Jenny Trigg who is an approved instructor for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT 01032).

As well as improving on previous learnt skills, the 6 week course will teach your dog to:
Come when called away from other dogsWalk on a loose lead past people without jumping up or pullingEmergency Stop - stop in an emergencyControl at a distance (drop on cue)Impulse control - control your dogs impulse to run offLeave food offered by a strangerDown stay out of sight Quick response to commands, first time.
And fun stuff such as:Basic AgilityObstacle coursesFun competitions
If you have any concerns that you and your dog may not be ready to move on to the Improvers level, please speak to your instructor who will be happy to advise you. Many people choose to repeat a Beginners course in order to brush up on basics or simply to work amongst a new group of dogs. You can contact Jenny on 07734 034 563 if you are unsure if your dog is at the right level.

RULES
Exercise your dog before the class so that he has a chance to relieve himself and drain excess energy. We recommend you do not feed your dog up to 1 hour before the class as feeding too close to training time can put your dog at risk of gastric torsion. Please aim to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the class. Regular late comers will be asked to leave the course with no refund. Please wait to be invited into the hall as it's likely there will already be another class in the hall before you.If your dog is ill for whatever reason or comes into season, please leave your dog at home and come to the class by yourself. You will still learn the necessary exercises for that week to practise at home.If you are going to miss a session for whatever reason, please let us know as soon as possible. (dont just not show up). We may recommend you book a one to one session (at cost) to catch up on missed classes. We encourage all of the family to attend classes and children are more than welcome to come to class, but they MUST be well behaved. We reserve the right to remove anyone from the class if their children are being a nuisance. Children running around the class out of control is dangerous for both themselves and the dogs around them.
